Inter-mold® technology
Implementation
Material Specifications
The inter-mold® technology is intended for injection molded parts and can be
used with a wide range of plastic resins such as:
- Polypropylene (PP)
- Polyethylene (HDPE and LDPE)
- Polyacetal (POM)
- Nylon (PA6 and PA6.6)
- Thermoplastic elastomers
Technical overview
The inter-mold® process is not an insert molding process. It is the process to mold hooks during a standard injection cycle (one-shot) so that they are integrally part of a product - similar to a rib.
This is made possible by using a specifically designed insert that is mounted into the injection mold. Hook shapes are pre-machined in the insert to enable hook formation. During the ejection process the hooks temporarily straighten in order to be demolded. After demolding, the hooks take their original shape.
Implementation
- Molds are modified to contain proprietary inserts.
- Slides and retractable inserts are available for draft angles beyond 45°.
Current projects show that the inter-mold® technology is reliable for
the production of millions of parts without specific maintenance!
