Inter-mold SamplesInter-mold® technology

Implementation

Material Specifications

The inter-mold® technology is intended for injection molded parts and can be used with a wide range of plastic resins such as:

  • Polypropylene (PP)
  • Polyethylene (HDPE and LDPE)
  • Polyacetal (POM)
  • Nylon (PA6 and PA6.6)
  • Thermoplastic elastomers

Inter-mold ImplementationTechnical overview

The inter-mold® process is not an insert molding process. It is the process to mold hooks during a standard injection cycle (one-shot) so that they are integrally part of a product - similar to a rib.

This is made possible by using a specifically designed insert that is mounted into the injection mold. Hook shapes are pre-machined in the insert to enable hook formation. During the ejection process the hooks temporarily straighten in order to be demolded. After demolding, the hooks take their original shape.

Technical Overview

Implementation

  • Molds are modified to contain proprietary inserts.
  • Slides and retractable inserts are available for draft angles beyond 45°.

Current projects show that the inter-mold® technology is reliable for the production of millions of parts without specific maintenance!
